Candy Boago Sibisibi. She's one of the female entrepreneurs in Botswana. She's 26 and from Molepolole, Lekgwapeng Word. Candy, she's the founder and CEO (Chief Executive Officer) at Candy Cake Creations and Candy Collections.
Candy gives an account of she started the business because unemployment it's a challenge; whether you went to tertiary or not. Regardless, that's what inspired her to start hustling. Candy is disseminating guidance to someone who just started their own business to have goals; to work hard and to be proud of their hustle. She said "First of all, do business that you have passion for. Otherwise you won't manage. Don't start a business because someone got started theirs. It is not just about money but passion is the key." she summed up. Candy let out fear and doubt is natural but having goals helped her to challenge herself to overcome. she's learning a lot from the internet to grow her skills. She follows the cake pages. Nonetheless, she does a lot of research to grow her business.
Candy enunciate that her business looks different currently, compared to when she first started. She said, "I see major growth, glancing at where I come from." She's so positive that she will be having her bakery; supplying big brands shortly. She will introduce a variety of bread like loaves, rock buns, etc. Regardless, with her goals and hard work, she believes that she will achieve a lot. Candy is very focused and motivated. She set her business apart from others in her industry. Looking at other cake businesses and backdrops their charges are high. Nevertheless, She's still reasonable and attracts more customers. She said, "Is better to gain P50 than nothing."Candy experienced predicaments and hardships when she first started her business. She had no confidence but was full of doubts. She started baking with one who was already in the industry. She had a lot of negative questions about herself, especially when it was time to practice baking on her own. She asked herself "Will you manage girl? What if you burn the bread? What if the cream melts? What if it's not the same as the sample I was given? What if it collapses, especially in front of everyone at the party?" however, she set down and thought about unemployment challenge she was impaired; After academy because by then, she was a tertiary student, regardless of the struggle. That's where she got the motivation to overcome fear and doubts. She started baking on her own and promoted her business on social media platforms.
Candy divulges the hardest part of being an entrepreneur it's when prices increase every day. When prices are higher, she's forced to increase the costs of cakes. However, that's impacting business negatively. She loses customers because they can't afford to spend more. Candy informs her favorite part of being an entrepreneur she has a lot of friends. Relatives and customers love her so much. Candy has a lot of support. "Most of the customers keep on coming back again and again..." she said. The bond is too much. She met different people so far. She even gets some advice about her business. She loves being her boss and enjoys working under her pressure. Candy asserts qualities every entrepreneur should bring into the world are love, friendliness, and being open to the customers.
Cany has grown personally from being an entrepreneur. She said "Business doesn't have friends, relatives, and favorites. It is business at the end of the day, Nothing personal. However, creditors affect the growth of the business." Unfortunately shes' the victim of writing off bad debts. she learned the business the hard way. She said, "Actually if the outstanding balance is P5 nowadays orders can't be collected." Candy clarifies the biggest learning experience in running a business is to be independent as a young entrepreneur as she is. She doesn't want to bother her parents by asking them about basic needs such as toiletries etc. However, she has the desire to provide for her family. She learned that hard work pays off. She said "Not all of us will be hired, but God has blessed some of us so that we can hire others; especially those who are passionate to work hard." she summed up.
Candy affirms baking and decoration are about art and passion. It doesn't necessarily a must-have qualification to get started with the business. Her goal is to create employment and encourage young girls and boys who didn't do well at form two, mostly of them wish to be somewhere in life but because of their backgrounds unfortunately their parents might not afford it. Candy is dedicated to helping them with employment opportunities so that they can be independent and be able to do something about their lives. Candy doesn't believe that education is the only key to success, even though she went to tertiary. She's encouraging youth to obtain skills in different fields. Candy lets out she won't compromise her business for the sake of friends, relatives, and family members. She's more focused and dedicated to growing big.
